Sounds like a pretty good commuter/road tripper

That’s how I see it. And the salvage title only means a discount to me. Potential resale value is meaningless to me.

Even without the salvage, 70k in three years seems like a lot.

Plus, the private party KBB value for “great” is only $11k.

Yes and yes. CarMax comparables are $10k.

that does probably mean that they are highway miles which are pretty easy.

Unless you live in New Jersey, where it’s slightly more taxing than Moab.

CP. I just paid about that for a 09 with less miles in 1000% better shape. CP!

It’s a shame they didn’t recreate that sporty stripe package it apparently had.

Yeah, but still salvage is salvage. that’s decent work on the body shell. and it’s still a CP. that was my point, You can find boring Impala’s that haven’t had tons of work done to them for the same price.

Never own what, an inflated tire? I learned to drive in a ‘77 Caprice. Always been a Chevy man, and the Impala has always been my sedan of choice not because it’s remarkable, but because it’s simple transportation. And they don’t hold value, so they’re cheap. And they ride and drive nicely.

no a FWD chevy sedan. I try to only own AWD RWD or 4x4 vehicles. But they are pretty reliable i have heard.

If there were an affordable RWD family car option, you can bet I’d be on it. The closest thing would be the Cadillac Catera (Opel Omega), but that car was a lemon. The new Police Caprice would be a nice choice, but they are pricey and not widely available.

That's really cool they provided you the before pictures. That makes me believe they are actually being decent about it instead of trying to cover shit up. If it is something you are interested in, it is sure to be a far better price than a non-salvage one. The price is bound to be way more negotiable than normal.

I feel the same way. I’ve done many CL deals and this guy seems totally legit and responsive. I haven’t seen the car yet, but I’m feeling pretty good about it.

It’s a base model so take it for what it is. Replacing the doors will be easy. Fixing the quarter panel not so much. How much are they asking?

Those Impalas are the literal embodiment of driving a couch. Also the back seat is surprisingly small given the overall size of the vehicle. Unless you’re particularly hung up on something that new, that cheap, and that much of “Old GM,” I don’t know why you’d buy it.

That new, that cheap, and that much of “Old GM.” I’d say you’ve summed it up. I could buy something older and more expensive, buy why would I? I need a dependable, comfortable family car.
